114. Hanky Panky

February 1, 1977 (U-822)

Written by: Gene Reynolds
Directed by: Gene Reynolds
Guest Stars: Ann Sweeny, as Carrie Donovan.

Plot: When Nurse Donovan receives a ‘Dear Jane' letter from her husband, she is very unhappy. Hot Lips is worried because she hasn't heard from Donald, then receives a letter saying he's in hospital. She phones him, but can't get through and panics. BJ, trying to console Donovan, gets very involved, and they end up spending the night together. She feels a heck of a lot better, but BJ is guilt-stricken and snubs her. After discussing things with Hawkeye, he doesn't tell Peg, and after talking to Donovan, feels a lot better himself. Hot Lips finally gets in touch with Donald, to discover that he has a double hernia, from doing the rope climb.

Glitches: The unit of plasma Donovan gives the patient is full when she puts it on the stand, and nearly empty two seconds later.

AWOL: No sign of Father Mulcahy.

The Klinger Collection: A pale print dress with khaki cardigan and a red beret.

Continuity is for Wimps: I don't know if this is the right place to mention it, but why is it that whenever it's necessary for nurses to be alone, they have their own tents, and whenever they're just mentioned in passing they all bunk together?

Notes: Some notes

Comments: It's interesting the lengths that the scriptwriters have to go to in order to avoid saying ‘BJ bonked Nurse Donovan'.
Just a little bit dead. Hot Lips's problems with Donald are about the most interesting thing that happens this episode. A shame, because it was quite a nice idea.
