94. The More I See You

February 10, 1976 (G-524)

Written by: Larry Gelbart and Gene Reynolds
Directed by: Gene Reynolds
Guest Stars: Blythe Danner as Carlye Walton.
Blythe Danner is a very successful actor and producer but is slightly less well-known than her daughter, Oscar winner Gwenyth Paltrow.
Semi-regulars: Mary Jo Catlett as Nurse Becky Anderson.

Plot: When the love of Hawkeye's life, Carlye Walton (née Breslin) turns up in camp, he is faced with the knowledge that he never got over her. Despite the fact that she's married, the two get very back together. In the end, she requests a divorce from her husband, but leaves the camp. Guess Hawkeye just can't win.

AWOL: No sign of Hot Lips.

BIMOL: Klinger parts his leg hair in the middle but doesn't show up much otherwise.

Great Lines: Hawkeye: 'I haven't hidden since I was three. I'm sorry they every found me.'
Hawkeye: 'Shampoo!' BJ: 'Because we couldn't find any real poo.'

Suction: One call.

Notes: Hawkeye did his residency in Boston, where he lived with Carlye Breslin. At this point, BJ hadn't been unfaithful to his wife, but just wait till Season 6...

Comments: This was just a little too soppy for my taste, although it had the kind of ending one wouldn't expect. Carlye's reasons for leaving were pretty lame - that Hawkeye's work would always be more important than her. If all she wanted was someone who was able to give her all their attention, why did she want to ditch her husband?
